In a Time of Tomato's

Tomato time is earlier in Texas than in other parts of the country and these last few weeks have been prime tomato time .
I have purchased fresh homegrown tomatoes from two different Farmers Markets . One purchase was in Luling on our way back from a Memorial WEEKEND trip to the Hill country and one was at the Katy Farmers Market .
Today , we went and looked at some OPEN HOUSES in Katy and as we were leaving the neighborhood , we saw the cutest little boy with a table full of homegrown tomatoes for $2 a lb. Now , I know I can buy them cheaper at the grocery store or the Farmer's Market . But , it sure was a lot more rewarding to buy them from a 6 year old , who had just picked them from the family garden and was learning sooo many important skills as he weighed the tomatoes on his digital scale and told me how much I owed him . He even disclosed that one tomato had a small hole in it ........Of, course I bought it anyway !
Tomorrow morning we will have " homegrown " BLT 's . I can't hardly wait .
